- In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of whole wheat flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- Slowly add warm water and knead the dough until it becomes soft and pliable.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat the cast iron tawa over medium heat.
- Roll a small piece of dough into a ball and flatten it slightly.
- Dip the dough ball into some dry flour and roll it out into a thin circle.
- Place the chapati on the heated tawa and cook for 30-40 seconds on each side, until it’s lightly browned and puffy.
- Serve hot with your favorite curry or chutney.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich :
- Heat the cast iron tawa over medium heat.
- Butter two slices of bread and place one slice on the tawa.
- Add a slice of cheddar cheese and a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of the bread.
- Add another slice of bread on top and press down lightly with a spatula.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted.
- Cut into halves or quarters and serve hot.
Quesadillas :
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of shredded cooked chicken, 1/2 cup of chopped onions, 1/2 cup of diced tomatoes, and 1/2 cup of shredded cheese.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Heat the cast iron tawa over medium heat.
- Place a flour tortilla on the tawa and spread a generous amount of the chicken mixture on top.
- Fold the tortilla in half and press down gently with a spatula.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is lightly browned.
- Cut into wedges and serve hot with sour cream or guacamole.
